Vaughan
Business Plan Challenge 2008
for High School Students
Program Highlights
Across
Ontario, high school students can participate in Business Plan
Challenges supported by the province of Ontario and their local
municipality. The Business Plan Challenge provides students the opportunity to
demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills through the creation of the
most important tool in business -- the
business plan.
With such a large trend towards self-employment, it is vital to the
future that youth have the opportunity to explore and develop their
entrepreneurial skills.
This year Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre will bring high
school students the " Vaughan Business Plan Challenge 2008".
The goal of Vaughan
Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC),
is to provide practical, ‘hands-on’ experience for students to fully develop a
business venture from concept to the formal written plan and
presentation.
To be eligible:
-
Students will be allowed to work in groups of three or less.
-
Students will prepare a complete
business plan for a
new business.
-
Plans will
be submitted by students to their Business Teacher or Department.
-
Each school
will then submit their top five business plans to one of the three centres.
-
All business plans will
be evaluated by a judging panel.
-
The judging
panel will consist of three to five professionals from the local
business community who have had previous experience evaluating
business plans.
-
Following
the judging of the business plans, finalists will be invited to the
Marketplace Awards Ceremony in June 2008.
-
Top finalists from each of the Small Business Enterprise Centres
will be honoured at the Awards Ceremony hosted by their local business centre and awarded cash bursaries
and prizes.
-
The winner
from each SBEC then advances to the Provincial Business Plan
Competition where he or she will compete for additional cash
bursaries.
Deadline:
June 6, 2008
