Client
surveys indicate an overwhelming demand for access to advice in all
stages of business development. Small
business start-ups and currently operating businesses rank access to
advice as the most important service. The recommended consultation and advisory services of
Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC) begin with its support staff being well-versed in general
business information.
Detailed
business information is available through a consultation service with
experienced staff advisors. Consultants
review and critique business plans and marketing materials, and
discuss business issues with clients, often on a one-on-one basis.
The
consultation process can be summarized as follows:
Client receives general information
from support staff member
Client receives free initial
consultation with a business consultant
Client is referred to other programs
for ongoing assistance, if required

A
number of clients have expressed a need for ongoing consulting and
support once their business has been successfully launched. VBEC
will be providing this support through a mentoring
program.
Advisors
from the business community will conduct ongoing mentoring.
VBEC will establish this relationship so clients can
benefit from long-term support at a “special” rate.
